I have the same problem! But it doesn't occur in every usage, though. Have you found a solution by now?

This happens to me all the time under Windows 7. Quartus versions 8.0, 8.1, and 9.1 have all done the same thing. Seems to happen more often if there are compiler errors noted in red on the document. But I've had it just go "poof" when clicking on the debugger icon.

I make sure to hit CTRL+S to save my work after any change I make. The IDE is completely unreliable.

None of these problems happened to me running the same versions under Windows XP.

Hello,

Kindly share if this problem already has a solution.

I have a similar problem. My code has extensive printf statements. The IDE almost always crashes.

My eclipse.ini does not have "-vm C:/altera/13.0sp1/quartus/bin/jre/bin/javaw.exe"

But this jawaw.exe path gets loaded from somewhere.

All my efforts to change to another jdk/java path failed as the above mentioned path is always getting loaded somehow.

Even if I hardcode the javaw.exe path in eclipse.ini, the above mentioned path gets loaded.

Could someone help me to understand which all scripts are called when eclipse is launched.

Hello,

Please share if there is a solution for this.

I am having a similar problem.

My code has extensive printf statements and the IDE almost always crashes with different exit codes like 3, 1, -7881776 etc

I noticed that the eclipse.ini does not have "-vm" option set. But, still it gets loaded somehow as C:/altera/13.0sp1/quartus//bin/jre/bin/javaw.exe

All my efforts to change the path to another jdk/javaw.exe failed as the above mentioned path is getting loaded somehow.

Could someone help me to understand which all scripts are called while eclipse is launched.

maths, the problem you describe is not the same as the general crashing under Win7, and you are using a version that I think has had most of the Win7-specific problems fixed.

I'm still stuck on 9.1 for an older project I am supporting. The Win7 crashing was so bad I finally gave up and ran Nios in WinXP in a VMware virtual machine running on my Win7 machine. Works great!
