Hello, I'm new to the RapidIO Megafunction so this may be a silly question but when I compile my code I get the error message:
Can't Generate netlist output... is a OpenCore Plus time-limted file. Does anyone know why I get this error? Thanks, joeLink Copied

It's because Quartus doesn't think you've purchased the RapidIO IP. If you did in fact purchase it, follow the licensing instructions. If you haven't purchased the IP, you will need to do so to continue using it.
But I bet you know this already- Mark as New

I thought Rapid IO was free? I did manage to get around the error message by following:
To avoid this error, disable the EDA simulation tool in your project by opening the Settings dialog box from the Quartus II Assignments menu. Select the category EDA Tool Settings and the subcategory Simulation. On the Simulation page of the Settings dialog box, change the Tool name option to <None>. http://www.altera.com/support/kdb/solutions/rd12202011_654.html?gsa_pos=6&wt.oss_r=1&wt.oss=time-limited file Thanks Galfonz, I will look into purchasing this Megafunction.- Mark as New

Galfonz,
HI, is this what I need to purchase: http://www.altera.com/products/ip/iup/rapidio/m-alt-riophy.html I'm hoping to include RapidIO in my next design. Last, can I use it without using Qsys? Thanks, joe- Mark as New

Galfonz,
HI, I found the cost of the IP and it is equivalent to a new Ford Fusion. I need to find a cheaper interface. joe- Mark as New

I'm not sure, but I think that the PCI express hard IP can be used (on the SOCs that have them) without an additional fee. However, you will need to buy Quartus if you want to use the PCIe specific tools that I can't remember the name of right now. My understanding is that you can use PCI express with the web edition of Quartus, but the tools to tune it are only available in the paid edition.
There are also bits and pieces of a RapidIO implementation available on opencores.org but you would be in for a lot of work to implement RapidIO with just this.
