Reading the Checksum or Date Compiled of an FPGA during runtime

Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to store or retrieve the date and/or checksum of the SOF file running on the FPGA.

I would like to be able to read it using an external processor and display it to the user to verify what we are running.

Currently I use the processor to read ROM where i have a hex file that basically has my version number. The only problem with this is that i have to remember to change it every time i enhance(fix a bug in) my project.

Anyone try this or get something like this working. Any Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

I think this thread from a while ago covers what you want.

I've attached a version of the script that I use on all my designs too.
