Hello Guys,
We have already bought two PCIe development Kit of Cyclone 10 GX. Then we designed our own board refer this pcie board. So our boards configuration scheme is similar as this Dev kit boards.
The configuration device is EPCQ-L1024, which can work well on our board. Because this chip is not easy to get from market, so we also chose a pin-2-pin compatible flash chip for replacement.
We search in Intel website : https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/support-resources/design-guidance/configuration-support.html
The compatible chip of EPCQ-L1024 should be S70FL01G. However, our local distributor promoted S25HS01GTFABHI030 for us to replace EPCQ-L1024. There are several questions need you help here.
1. Our FPGA part number is 10CX220YF780E5G. Do we need so big flash(1Gbit) for it. What't the exactly memory size for configuration?
2. Can S25HS01GTFABHI030 be used to replace EPCQ-L1024?
Best Regard
Thanks

Hi there,
1. The size of the flash memory you choose is generally correlated with the amount of logic resources you use. The more resources you utilize, the larger the resulting binary file will be. My recommendation is to determine the final flash size after compiling all functionalities and generating the RPD file. However, you can also refer to Table 54 in the datasheet as a reference.
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683828/current/configuration-files.html
2. The flash model you mentioned has not been verified on our side, so we cannot guarantee its compatibility. I recommend selecting a flash model from the list provided in the link for reference. Table 4.
Best regards,
WZ
