UART from HPS

Hello everybody 

I am trying to send some information from HPS to a serial port and read them in computer with MATLAB (or any C program).  

 

Right now, when I use printf, I can see the result in the Altera Monitor Program console, but I cannot use my own program to receive and process the data automatically. 

 

I was wondering if someone could help me know how can I do that. 

 

I am using DE1 SOC (version D) board.
