USB BLASTER TROUBLE WITH QUARTUS ii V11.0

I used to work with Quartus 9.1 Web Edition for my designs in VHDL, but reciently I am using Quartus 11.0 WE. I've already installed the driver for my USB Blaster cable, but when I start the programmer, Quartus 11.0 WE cannot recognize my programming cable when I try to set the hardware configuration. If I reinstall Quartus 9.1 it can be seen in the hardware list when both the Quartus 9 and Quartus 11 are simultaneously running. 

I don't understand. Somebody knows what is happening? Should I have them rinning both always? Thank you.

11.0 sp1 has a fix for this. Until that comes out your best bet is to keep running the 9.1 jtagserver: 

 

1. Install 11.0 WE, open the programmer window once with admin rights 
2. Install (or have previously installed) an older version 
3. Run the following commands from a command window: 
4. jtagserver --uninstall 
5. <where/you/installed/9.1>/bin

 This should get you a working system

I use the standalone 10.1 SP1 programmer software with Quartus 11.0.

I had the same issue, and it works now with Quartus 10sp1 programmer. I see that this has been fixed in 11sp1, but the programmer only version hasn't been updated, you need to install the full Quartus 11sp1 to have the fix... 

 I hope Altera is going to publish an update for the "programmer only" version.

--- Quote Start ---  I see that this has been fixed in 11sp1  --- Quote End ---     It hasn't been fixed at all.   I just upgraded to 11.0SP1 from 9.1SP2, and in spite of doing all the usual incantations (deinstall, reinstall, etc., which seems to indicate that the driver works fine), including following a few web tips, it simply doesn't work. USB Blaster never shows up like it ought to.   How is it even possible that such a fundamental piece of code comes through testing as broken ?   The standalone programmer 10.1SP1 doesn't work either. What a mess.

I use 11.0 SP1 with the USB Blaster without any problems.

--- Quote Start ---  I use 11.0 SP1 with the USB Blaster without any problems.  --- Quote End ---   That only proves that it can work somehow, but doesn't actually help in finding the problem.   Anyway, it works now, after the usual Windows magic dance of installing, deinstalling and restarting, but otherwise not actually changing one byte of the application in hand. So it seems like someone at Altera screwed up in terms of application prerequisites (perhaps something in the registry).

Quartus 11sp1 is not yet released... 

 I got a customer beta version of the programmer version 11sp1 from my Altera FAE and the problem is now fixed.

Oops my mistake. It's been fixed in programmer version 11.1 (customer beta) which is not yet released.
