We have earlier used M25P64 flash as configuration memory, but this family is EOL soon.
Microchip SST25V series looks both cheap and available. For a new design based on Cyclone IV I am looking för a 16Mbit flash. Would Microchip SST25VF016B-50-4I-S2AF work (in AS configuration mode) ? Yes, I know the devices labeled Altera/Intel, but with the stupid Altera-pricing you don't even want to ask for "your price".Link Copied

Yes, that device should be fine. You could also consider serial FLASH devices from Micron or ST.

Cheers, Alex --- Quote End --- EPCS is is not Intel inside, it's Micron inside;) The MT25-series from Mircon could be a good replacement for the old M25 i guess. Even if the MT25 supports dual I/O for higher transfer rates, it will boot in standard "single-channel-SPI". Today a 128Mbit flash costs nothing, and gives great opportunities for example to have more than one FPGA project inside.
