Write Protection issue on EPCS

Hi, I'm using CyclonIII with standard AS configuration scheme with EPCS64.

My project includes writing/reading parameters to/from EPCS Flash memory by NIOS.

How can I protect Configuration Image on EPCS Flash from accidental overwriting?

Thanks.

EPCS flash devices have a block protection feature which helps to prevent unintentional data overwriting. You can select the protected blocks through a 3-bit configuration in status register.

Refer to the EPCS datasheet, page 16 and following.

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I know about this register but I don't realy want to alter EPCS Controller design in order to access this register.

Is there another way to config this reg?

I think, the protection can be changed in the flash programmer tool, it has been discussed in the forum before.

Could you possibly point me at this topic in the forum? I've not found it.
