How do we determine a value as the best BER value considering many values obtained after running the auto sweep feature in transceiver toolkit. From my basic knowledge i understood that it must be as low as possible. But, there might be many more lower values below that BER value. So how to fix upon a value.

I believe the lower you can get would be better. But generally most of the protocols would have the specs of max BER value. As long as you can meet that BER, then your link should comply to it.

I would recommend to follow the BER specs of your selected protocol.

You can also set a tighter BER if you want more margin.
