help programming Stratix II DSP DEV board

Hi,

I've recently started working with the Stratix II DSP development board and have run into some problems getting a simple program up and running on the board. When I configure the FPGA with my design all of the status LEDs come on including the error LED, the fan stops running and the SMSc ethernet chip starts to heat up a lot. Interestingly enough my design which only flashes the LEDs on/off when SW4 is pressed works fine. I'm not sure what steps I'm missing in configuring the FPGA but any help would be greatly appreciated.

try settings the unused I/O as weak pullup, i've experienced similar issues with the Stratix II DSP kit.
