how to start working with sopc and nios

hi.  

i am just beginner.........i am going to start work with nios. 

i dont know from where i do start?? 

can any body give the step for starting.

I recommend you buy the NEEK (Nios Embedded Evaluation Kit) made by Altera and follow the step by step guide on developing your first Nios II platform using the free SOPC builder that comes with Quartus (also included in the kit).  

 

Assuming you have a good understanding of embedded micro controller systems this should help explain how all the elements fit together to deliver your first functioning platform. 

 

This is the route i took and to be perfectly honest there were no questions left unanswered by the time i had completed the step through guides.

first of all thankyou for reply............. 

i have gone through cyclone ii kit................also run example project  

but how to add custom peripheral is Avalon bus is not clear .can you help on this ??????
