Hi,
I have a Stratix EP1S80 board which I would like to program the flash for non-volatile configuration. I am using Quartus 7.2 and can generate the .sof file for regular configuration via the parallel port masterblaster cable. The problem is that for programming the flash (non-volatile) the manual has a procedure based on the serial port. This requires you to convert the .sof to a .hexout file (thats not a problem) and then downloading it to the fpga via the serial port using a utility in Quartus 4.2 (which I don't have) called Write2flash.exe. My question is can I program this board with Quartus v7.2 (bypass write2flash)? If not, does anyone know where I can get the Write2flash.exe file? Thanks for any suggestions.Link Copied

I guess, that the solution for the Stratix II DSP Board also applies to your board:
--- Quote Start --- In the Stratix II EP2S60 DSP Development Board Data Sheet, in the Non-Volatile Configuration section, the Write2Flash utility is mentioned as a tool you can use to download user configuration data into the on-board flash. The new method is to use the Nios® II Flash Programmer through the Nios II SDK Shell. ... Refer to the Nios II Flash Programmer User Guide for more detailed instructions on using the Nios II Flash Programmer. --- Quote End ---- Mark as New
