trancievers for video

Hi guys,

I'm very interested which types of video, exept HD-SDI, Altera devices transceivers can be used for? Any video that is transported via coaxial cables and has a proter data rate?

Please help me, I must get an understanding how transceivers can be used for video processing applications.

Thank you.

The transceiver is really only used for serializing/deserializing a data stream. I work very heavily with SD/HD/3G SDI video and so I use the transceivers everyday for this purpose.

Aside from that, the only other popular serial video streams I can think of are:

ASI

DVB-ASI

HDMI / DVI (3 TMDS serial data channels plus clock)

Displayport

ASI and DVB-ASI can be handled with transceivers although the slow data rate doesn't necessarily justify a high-speed transceiver. I have seen some xilinx and lattice designs which handled DVI / HDMI with transceivers.

Aside from that, you might serialize video data in your own format for the purpose of moving it from one place to another.
