Hi,
Intel Rapid Storage Technology promted me if i wanted to create a volume. I just clicked yes because I thought it was a solution to free up space. At first nothing really happened. (I should probably add I have no experience with this program or RAIDS at all)
But now the HDD is "gone". I figured i might have created a RAID and that the content of the drive is probably gone.
Did i create a RAID and is it possible to cancel that and just have the normal HDD back?
Thanks in advance.

Hello @Ank3r
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
Could you please elaborate more on the specific message that Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) prompted you? Was it something like "to optimize the space by converting the drive into a recovery drive"? Please provide details.
If the scenario mentioned above was the actual behavior and if one of the drives is not showing on the computer, chances are that a RAID array might have been created on the computer (as you pointed out). In this case, we would like to verify the exact and current status of the RAID array that was created.
To verify the status, please open the Intel® RST Software and upload a screenshot of the status screen, just like the attached picture below.
Also, please run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system:
- Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer
- Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
- To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
- Once you have saved the file (.txt file), please attach it to your reply.
To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" option below the response textbox.
Best regards,
Andrew G.
