Functioning drives reported as not part of RAID.

Chipset; ICH10R

(I have a separate IDE boot drive)

6 drives connected to the motherboard in RAID 5.. A small misshap with my server. Installed new graphics card and now it boots.

Drives 0 and 5 were suddenly no longer part of the RAID according to the chipset. I'm 100% sure that they are ok, both physically and datawise.

There should be a simple app available to just mark their place manually and get everything up and running again.. Actually it should be an easy app to make completely automated as it seems to remember the actual serial-numbers of the different discs, and their place, in the RAID.

So far I have only gotten more problems by trying to protect my data by using RAID than I ever had using discs without any extra parity function.

Please please help.. I'm sure all my precious data is there, but I do not have the tools or knowledge to recover the volume without help.

Blah, thanks for no help at all.. If anyone else have this problem the only help I got was aquireing a program that is called "ZAR" (zero assumption recovery) and letting it run through everything and extract the files to a lot of external drives... For ZAR or a similar RAID recovery program to work you must resart the computer withou the RAID settings, so the program can access the discs individually.. The files opened at the time my computer crashed were damaged, but other than that it seems to be a full recovery.

You were pretty lucky. I've tried around 10 different programs and haven't found one that has been able to recover my data.

Unfortunately I had a Raid 0 and Raid 1+0 array, and most programs will only find the Raid 0 array which of course is damaged.
