IRST 11.7 interface crashing.

I updated my asus mobo bios and im running irst 11.2, the bios says supports 11.2 all this under windows 7 32 bits.

Today i installed windows 7 64 bits now i wonder if i could be able to run irst 11,7?

somebody knows if the bios has to match the irst version? I tried to run 11.7 under windows 7 32 bits and the interface crashed all the time.

At last I have found the cause of my IRST "Assertion Failed" error and up to now it is not something I have seen reported elsewhere.

I have an internal DVD RW drive and more recently I have added an internal Blu-ray drive too.

Both drives are SATA and are installed and connected at the same time.

This I have just discovered is the cause of my IRST application failing to work.

If both drives are connected at the same time then the IRST application will return an "Assertion Failure" error.

However, if only one of the internal drives is connected (it doesn't matter which) then the IRST application works perfectly - no problems at all.

What do you make of that?

Intel have written back to me regarding this issue.

Great work guys. I also have two optical drives and was puzzled by why any IRST version above 11.2 crashed when loading the GUI or what have you. Now it makes sense. I guess the question now is, how long until we see a fix?

Here's some info about my own system:

I7 3770k

Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE mainboard

Two Intel 520 240gb SSD drives in Raid 0 on Intel Sata III. Boot "drive".

1 3tb Hitachi HDD

1 3tb Seagate HDD

Pioneer sata blu ray player (1st optical)

Optiarc dvd burner (2nd optical)

All of these on the Intel Sata II ports.

My following setup works with RST 12.5.0.1066

Windows 64bit win 7

P55 PCH

RAID ROM 9.5.0.1037 and SATA set to RAIDThree SSD and three HDD on Intel portsTwo HDD & ODD on Jmicron ports set to RAID/AHCI

The only thing I'm not happy about is SATA ports not by Intel for my other two HDD & ODD on Jmicron show the iaStorF.sys driver installed when Intel has nothing to do with them ports.

It is good news, that the IRST software v12.5.0.1066 is working fine for your system, but you obviously do not have any optical drive connected with an Intel SATA port.

That is a big difference to the systems of Antonio, Jim, telemeh, win7ine and Nomad_Soul, where at least 2 optical drives are managed by the Intel SATA Controller.

The problem is observed only in the case of two (3, 4, 5) ODD connected to Intel SATA port.

The key element here is that folks with two optical drives on the Intel ports are experiencing the crash, as mentioned by others.

Ok fine so they likely coded the interface to expect one ODD on any port and any number of HDD or SSD on any ports with or without a ODD so they might as well test with all ports having a ODD just in case someone dose have a need for 6 ODD.

Seems that the problem is mainly due, if there are two ODDs of the same manufacturer (here Sony), the driver is not able to distinguish the dirfferent drives.

If have the same configuration on my work PC with two ODDs, but here is one LG and one Samsung. There IRST works fine.

I just substituted the Optiarc AD7240S by an LG GH24NS DVD ROM.

Now IRST 11.7.0.1013 is working fine in both, SATA and AHCI mode. Seems mainly that there is a problem, if there are two similar ODDs from the same manufacturer (here SONY).

Not in my case. I have the issue with a Pioneer BDR-207D and an Optiarc AD-7280S. It's interesting that a number of us having issues seem to have Optiarc drives. Antonio and Telemeh also mentioned using Optiarcs in their systems previously in this thread. A possible connection or just a coincidental correlation?

I am also having the issue with two optical drives crashing IRST 2X Optiarc DVD RW AD-7260S

works fine with one installed crashes with 2..

Signed up to this forum just to confirm the "multiple-ODD issue". I have two similar, but not identical ODDs, disconnecting one of them fixed the assert/gui/no responsiveness symptoms.

This is the ODD I still have in:

SCSI\CdRomOptiarc_DVD_RW_AD-7260S_1.03

the one I removed was an AD-7220.

The motherboard is an Asus Z87-Deluxe, there are one SDD, 2 HDDs and 2 ODDs connected, and RST version 12.8.0.1016 always crashes on startup. If I disconnect the 2 ODDs, it works correctly.

I can confirm the same problem now in December, 2013. This problem has been going on for about a year now and Intel keeps coming out with new driver versions with the same old bug! My system:

IRST Driver: 12.8.0.1016

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO

CPU: i7-3770k

OS: Windows 7 Pro

RAID controller: Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller

Drives:

Sata Port 0: Samsung SSD 830 Series

Sata Port 2: Hitachi HDS721010CLA330 1.0GB in RAID 1

Sata Port 3: Hitachi HDS721010CLA330 1.0GB in RAID 1

Sata Port 4: Pioneer BD-RW-207D

Sata Port 5: Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 1.0GB

Asmedia 0: Pioneer BD-RW-206D

The 2 Pioneer Blu-ray writers are on different controllers, but the problem still occurs. The second drive is on an Asmedia 106x Sata Controller, but when the drive is connected as the second ODD, IRST fails with an Assertion Error. I have been dealing with this problem for almost a year now and Intel must think it is a low priority issue since they have not corrected it in that period of time.
