Intel RST F6 driver package

I am trying to get the Intel RST F6 Driver Package v20.2.1.1016 for Z890 RAID 1 Non-VMD.

I need specifically the F6 driver files: iaStorVD.inf, iaStorVD.sys and iaStorVD.cat.

Or, the Full RST installer: SetupRST.exe

Can anyone point me to the source to get these?

I think it would be best from Intel's Driver source.

Thank you in advance!

Hello RMB9,

Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.

For me to better understand and diagnose the issue further, let me ask you to provide detailed responses to the following questions. This information will help me isolate the problem and determine the most appropriate course of action moving forward.

  1. Can you tell me more about the issue that you encounter? What is the reason why you are asking for the F6 driver?
  2. What is the brand and model of your system?
  3. If you are having RAID issues, kindly send some screenshots for me to check.
  4. What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best regards,

Michael L.

Thank you for you reply.

I will generate a report as best as possible and get it to you in a day or two.

I am working on other technical issues with another system at present.

Thank you!!!!

Topic: RAID 1 Driver Integration and Windows 11 Pro Installation on Intel RST Controller (Device ID 7D0B, Z890 Chipset)

1. System Context
• Hardware: Desktop board with Intel Z890 chipset, RAID 1 array configured in BIOS.
• Controller: Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) controller, PCI ID 7D0B.
• Target OS: Windows 11 Pro (clean install).
• Install Goal: Lean, telemetry‑free build with RAID stability and reproducibility.

2. Driver Preparation
• Downloaded official Intel RST package directly from Intel support site.
• Manually extracted installer to ensure presence of required files:
• (driver binding instructions)
• (driver binary)
• (catalog/signature file)
• Verified file integrity after suspecting corruption in earlier USB prep.
• Rebuilt driver USB with alphabetized folder structure for clarity.

3. INF Modification
• Identified mismatch between RAID controller PCI ID (7D0B) and supported IDs in stock INF.
• Manually patched INF to include correct binding for 7D0B.
• Applied signature enforcement workaround:
• Disabled driver signature checks temporarily during setup.
• Ensured reproducibility by documenting exact INF edits.

4. Windows Setup Execution
• Booted into Windows 11 Pro installer.
• Used Load Driver option to inject patched Intel RST driver from USB.
• RAID volume detected successfully after driver load.
• Bypassed forced internet setup with command:
• Enabled offline installation.
• Created local account without Microsoft sign‑in requirement.

5. Post‑Install Configuration
• Telemetry Control:
• Disabled telemetry services (e.g., Connected User Experiences, Diagnostic Tracking).
• Removed scheduled tasks related to data collection.
• Cleaned registry hooks for telemetry persistence.
• Driver Hub Management:
• Allowed ASUS Driver Hub auto‑install for chipset essentials.
• Pruned optional utilities (e.g., monitoring tools, update agents) to maintain lean profile.
• Validation:
• RAID volume confirmed stable in Disk Management.
• No phantom devices or driver conflicts detected.
• Multi‑monitor setup tested; refresh rates aligned without flicker.

6. Key Challenges & Solutions
• Driver Binding: Stock INF did not recognize RAID controller → solved via manual INF patch.
• Signature Enforcement: Windows blocked modified INF → solved with enforcement workaround.
• Installer Workflow: Forced online setup → bypassed with .
• Telemetry Persistence: Surviving scheduled tasks → solved with registry and task cleanup.
• Driver Hub Bloat: Auto‑install of unnecessary utilities → solved with selective pruning.

7. Conclusion
This workflow demonstrates reproducible steps for integrating Intel RAID drivers into Windows 11 Pro setup on unsupported controller IDs. The process ensures RAID stability while maintaining a lean, telemetry‑free environment. Documentation of INF edits and enforcement workarounds provides a clear path for replication and troubleshooting.

You know, before chatgpt and AI, the word "conclusion" was rarely used.
