The service fails to start at boot and when I try to start it I get:

Faulting application name: IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe, version: 13.2.4.1000, time stamp: 0x53d2d5b2

Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.3.9600.17278, time stamp: 0x53eeb4a3

Exception code: 0xc0000374

Fault offset: 0x000debd8

Faulting process id: 0x1534

Faulting application start time: 0x01cfeaac45bd3c4f

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology\IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

Faulting package full name:

Faulting package-relative application ID:

Motherboard is ASRock X99 Extreme4

I have the drivers installed for:

Intel(R) C600+/C220+ series chipset sSATA AHCI Controller - iaStorB.sys - version 4.1.0.1046

Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller - iaStorA.sys - version 13.2.4.1000

I have the motherboard set to RAID for the SATA controllers with my hard drives and AHCI for the SATA blueray burners.

OS boots and see's both RAID sets. RAID1 is a mirror of two SSDs for boot. RAID5 is 3 2TB drives.

OS is Windows 8.1 x64 with all the latest patches as of today.

I'd appreciate any insight as to what is wrong with my install and how to correct it. I've done the obvious things of reboots, remove and re-add, etc.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Thanks you for sharing this information.

May I please have the following?

  1. System report information from Intel® Rapid Storage Technology.
  2. Computer brand and model
  3. Provide your dxdiag report. How to get it?

Dxdiag Report: Type dxdiag in Start Menu> open> Save> Attach using Advanced Editor Options.

Kevin, thanks for responding to my message.

  1. System report information from Intel® Rapid Storage Technology.
    1. The icon for RST is in my taskbar but it won't launch. I believe it's due to the service not running. Is there any CLI or PowerShell or any other tricks to gather this data for you?
  2. Computer brand and model
    1. It is a generic brand computer I built myself. The motherboard is an ASRock X99 Extreme4. http://asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20Extreme4/index.us.asp ASRock > X99 Extreme4
    2. I've got a pair of SSDs in a RAID 1 mirror for the OS/Apps and 3 hard drives in RAID 5 for my Data.
    3. I downloaded the latest drivers and apps from the ASRock website AND I also downloaded and installed the latest version from the Intel Site for RST. v.13.2.4.1000
    4. In device manager I see the following devices associated with storage and Intel:
      1. Intel(R) C600+/C220+ series chipset sSATA AHCI Controller. Driver v.4.1.0.1046 dated 5/7/2014 from Intel Corporation
        1. This controller is being used for my two SATA blue ray drives and has a connection to an external SATA connector
      2. Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller. Driver v.13.2.4.1000 dated 7/25/2014 from Intel Corporation
        1. This is where my 5 drives identified above are located
    5. There are not faults on these controllers.
    6. Under disk drives I see my Intel Raid 1 and Intel Raid 5 Volume. They are both using a Microsoft driver v6.3.9600.16384 dated 6/21/2014 from Microsoft. There are no faults with them.
    7. At OS boot I see the RAID drives show up during Power On Self Test and activation of the RAID and both say healthy.
  3. Provide your dxdiag report. How to get it?
    1. I'll paste it in here but if you want me to email it to you send me an email at joe at martinsweb.org

Hello fjmartin,

Thank you for the information.

I see you are running latest Intel® Rapid Storage Technology version. Please note this is a generic driver and you should be using the OEM driver.

I would like you to try doing this:

  1. Please uninstall the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology software.
  2. Install a previous driver version. Try this one:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24006&lang=eng&ProdId=2101 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24006&lang=eng&ProdId=2101

  1. Make sure you have the latest net framework.
