Intel Rapid Storage Technology Rebuilds Wrong Volume when Drive Inserted

I am running Intel Rapid Storage Technology version 11.7.0.1013

I have the following arrays and volumes defined:

Array, name: SATA_Array_0000

Volume, name: System, type: RAID 1

Disk 1, present, size 1TB

Disk 2, missing

Array, name: SATA_Array_0001

Volume, name: Media, type: RAID 1

Disk 1, present, size 2TB

Disk 2, missing

When I insert the missing 2TB disk, Intel RST automatically assigns it to the System volume and starts rebuilding it. I never have the opportunity to specify that it is the Media volume that is to be rebuild.

I cannot remove the 2TB disk from the System volume (where it does NOT belong) and assign it to the Media volume (where it DOES belong).

Ugh....

Hi mbmast,

When you installed the new hard drive, you connected it to the SATA port where the previous hard drive of the media volume was connected or you connected it to the SATA port where the hard drive of the system volume was connected?

Perhaps.... I didn't pay much attention to which port I was connecting the drive. Are you suggesting that there is port affinity when rebuilding? If so, can that be turned off and can I be asked to which volume the replacement drive should be made part of?
