As far as I can tell, I do not have Optane as Device Manager only shows ST31000524AS for HDD but IAStorDataMgrSvc is running and seems to grows to 1.5 GB of RAM over a couple of days and continues to grow until "Your Computer Encountered a Problem" crash to teal notification screen. suggestions? Thanks!

MMose7, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order to provide the most accurate assistance, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your platform:

What is the model of the motherboard?

What is the model of the Intel® Processor?

If this a laptop, what is the model of it?

Which Intel® Rapid Technology version are you using?

Are you using a RAID configuration?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

What is the model of the Intel® Processor?

 - Intel Core i5-3330 3000MHz

If this a laptop, what is the model of it?

 - Desktop Dell Inspiron 660

Which Intel® Rapid Technology version are you using?

 11.5.0.1207

Are you using a RAID configuration?

 - I do not believe so. Single Hard Disk

Device Manager shows:

  - IDE /ATA/ATAPI Controllers with only 1 device = Intel 7 series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller, Showing Driver = iaStorA.sys, Intel, version 11.6.1.1001

System information shows only SCSI and IDE for storage

Could not locate any mention of a RAID configuration.

Which Windows* version are you using?

 - Windows 8.1 x64 Pro with Media Center

if any of the above seems inaccurate or there are better sources for identifcation, please let me know.

Thanks for your assistance.

Michael

MMose7, Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

We always recommend to install the Intel® Rapid Storage Technolgy validated by the manufacturer of the computer. I looked at Dell's web site and the Intel® Rapid Storage Technolgy version confirmed by them is 12.8.0.1016 ,A00.

Even though you are not using a RAID configuration, please back up any important information and then uninstall the Intel® RST from "Apps and Features", after then install the version provided by them:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=7d6x8&oscode=wt64a&productcode=inspiron-660

Once you get the chance, please let us know the results.
