I'm looking for a W2K8R2 USB 3.0 driver for an intel C620 server board.

Is there any driver available yet?

Hello Ruud,

Thank you for your contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.

I understand that you are looking for USB 3.0 driver to use on Intel(R) Chipset C620. In an effort to better assist you, can you please indicate the model of the server board you are working with?

Best regards,

It's actually a Dell PowerEdge R740 which isn't officially supported for 2008 R2 by Dell itself.

I managed to install all the other drivers since I'm lucky Intel deliveres a 2008 R2 supported chipset/LAN(X550) driver for this platform .

Now I just need the USB 3.0 driver mentioned and I hope Intel can help me with a driver or a less official workaround.

Hi Ruud,

Thank for your information.

A workaround will be to add the driver manually to the .ISO image. In order to do this please try the following steps:

Before you get started, make sure you have these items downloaded:

https://rufus.akeo.ie/ Rufus

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility Windows 7* USB 3.0 Creator Utility

Windows* Installation .ISO

How do I install the drivers?
  1. First, create the bootable USB installation media using Rufus.
  2. Open Rufus and select the .ISO.
  3. Select the Windows Server 2008 .ISO.
  4. After it has been opened, set the Partition scheme as indicated below:

5. Click the Start button and wait until it successfully creates the bootable USB.

How do I add USB 3.0 drivers to the installation?

  1. Open the Windows 7* USB 3.0 Creator Utility that you downloaded as administrator.
  2. Select the path where the installation media is located (the bootable USB drive).
  3. Clicking the "Create Image" button adds the USB 3.0 drivers to the installation (The installation process takes almost an hour).
  4. You can now install the operating system.
Be aware that Intel(R) does not indoors the use of this workaround as we cannot guarantee the results to be successful.

Best regards,

Jeremiah A.
