We have many 2U chassis from Intel with S2600KPR. So 4 per chassis.
Very recently, we increased the PWM speed for these to 50. Some of them got reflected and the flow was coming nicely.
But only for some chassis, the FAN speed did not reflect at all; meaning that the settings were good in BIOS but the flow is not increased yet. We thought we had to do a reboot for it to pick it up. But, it did not. We even did a cold reboot (hard unplug and plug).
We increased it with the following command.
sudo modprobe ipmi_devintf
sudo /tmp/syscfg /bcs "" "System Acoustic and Performance Configuration" "Set Fan Profile" 1
sudo /tmp/syscfg /bcs "" "System Acoustic and Performance Configuration" "Fan PWM Offset" 50
The changes were reflected nicely in all the nodes; even with the ones which are not working.
As I said, some of them aren't still picking it up. We verified the BIOS version for all these nodes. They're all on mixed versions. One with same BIOS version is running at correct (50) speed, one with same BIOS version is not.
So, I don't know if it is related to BIOS version at all.
What could be the reason for this? How can I make it run on 50 like others.
Thanks for the help in advance!

Hi Sergio,
Apologies for the delayed response. We had to update the BIOS for all the four nodes at the same time in a chassis. Then it started reflecting the PWM speed.
Please go ahead and close this issue.
Thanks,
Kamesh.

Apologies for the late response. We have mixed number of BIOS versions.
The affected ones run SE5C610.86B.01.01.0015.012820160943, SE5C610.86B.01.01.0028.121720182203, SE5C610.86B.01.01.0016.033120161139.
For some reason, I'm not able to run the sysinfo on our system. It throws the following error.
Would you like to continue? [Y/N]

System Information Retrieval is in progress and may take up to 2 minutes.
sh: backend1.sh: command not found
sh: backend3.sh: command not found
sh: backend5.sh: command not found
System Information Retrieval and logging is successful.
We updated one of the chassis to the latest version ie, to SE5C610.86B.01.01.0028.121720182203. But, this didn't do anything. Its the same as before.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Just a small update. I followed the command from this post https://forums.intel.com/s/feed/0D50P0000490YJaSAM?language=en_US.
sudo modprobe ipmi_devintf
sudo /tmp/syscfg /fan 1 50
But it didn't help. I even did a power-cycle.
Thanks.

Hi Sergio,
Anything on this? These nodes are under-performing and really affecting production.
Thanks.
