Hello!
On new R2208WFTZS server upgraded firmware package from stock 00.01.0009 to 00.01.0014 and now fans are on 7000RPM all the time.
All fan are working and I do not see any errors. See attached Sysinfo logs.
Does any one of you have idea how to solve this issue?
Regards,
Kuba W.

Hello Charlie!
System fans runs at speed >7000RPM:
Healthy Name Status Reading
OK System Fan 1 Normal 7367 R.P.M
OK System Fan 2 Normal 7367 R.P.M
OK System Fan 3 Normal 7367 R.P.M
OK System Fan 4 Normal 7314 R.P.M
OK System Fan 5 Normal 7367 R.P.M
OK System Fan 6 Normal 7367 R.P.M
I'm don't know where to check PSU fans speed.

Kuba W.

Hello KubaW,
Does the chassis has an intrusion switch? if it does please check that the door is closed.
Please check that all the fans are correctly seated.
Then try to re-run the latest BIOS update.
Please let us know how it goes.

There is no intrusion switch. Checked all 6 fans connection and there correctly seated.
Have you checked Sysinfo logs that I attached? Both intrusion and fan error should be reported there.
Tried re-flashing again BMC, BIOS and FRUSDR, but it didn't solve the issue.

Kuba W.

Hello KubaW,
We are going to have to play around with the server as it could be one or more issues.
First of all, are you using UPS? if you do, please try to connect the server directly to the wall outlet for testing purposes.
If the issue continues try just one memory per processor, clear the SEL and reinstall the BIOS update using EFI.
Please let us know how it goes.

Hello Charlie and thank you for assistance!
I followed yours recommendations:
- connected server directly to wall outlet,
- removed all but one DIMM,
- cleared SEL,
- reinstalled BIOS using EFI.
Unfortunately it didn't helped.
I had no fan issues on stock firmware 00.01.0009. Is it ok to downgrade from 00.01.0014 to 00.01.0009?

Kuba W.

Hello KubaW,
You can perform the downgrade but I can not assure that it is going to work as when you change the firmware some data information from the chassis get lost so, this is what we assume that happened but let me double check the sysinfo and all the information and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hello Charlie,
Downgraded BMC and FRUSDR to version 1.43 (from 00.01.0013 firmware package) and left BIOS on version 00.01.0014. Server is now quiet and system fans are on 4000 R.P.M..
Do you need Systeminfo logs from current config?
Regards,
Kuba W.

Hello Charlie,
I attached sysinfo logs from R2208WFTZS with BIOS 00.01.0014 and downgraded BMC/FRUSDR 1.43.
I can see some additional sensor readings on BMC 1.60 like "P1 Temperature" and "P2 Temperature" that are not present on version 1.43.

Hello KubaW,
Can you share status LED in the front of the chassis or back of the board is solid green or any other state?

Hello Charlie,
It was green (not sure if solid) on BIOS: 00.01.0014 with loud fans.
On BIOS 00.01.0013 it is solid green and quiet.

Kuba W.

Hi, i have exactly the same problem after upgrading to "14". I've searched forever to find this post and am rather annoyed as you had several issues with sensors for YEARS. Is there any update when a "15" or never Version is coming? Otherwise i will downgrade my system beacuse with 53CFM and 7100rpm i can not deliver this system to my customer, that is just ridiculous .

I downgraded to the 13-Package and the Bios stayed on .14. So it's either in the BMC-Code or the ME-Code or the SDR. The downgraded version of mine looks like this:
