Hello Tom,
Regarding your question, "Fans running at high speed on a S1200SPS".
This is normally because one or more fans are nor running properly or the BIOS and BMC have not synchronized with the fan setup.
- First please ensure that the cover is properly close.
- Then verify all fans are running.
- Please ensure the system is running latest BIOS.You can get the latest BIOS from our website (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26665/Intel-Server-Board-S1200SP-Firmware-Update-Package-for-EFI?product=88272 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26665/Intel-Server-Board-S1200SP-Firmware-Update-Package-for-EFI?product=88272)
- If the problem persists after the BIOS update please send me the BMC logs.We have a retrival utility, called System Information Retrieval Utility and can be found at (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25563/S1200SP-System-Information-Retrieval-Utility?product=88272 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25563/S1200SP-System-Information-Retrieval-Utility?product=88272)
If there is anything else we can help please feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Henry A.

Hi there!
FRU/SDR means Field Replaceable Unit/ Sensor Data Record. The FRU portion will display information about the system and will allow you to edit some of the fields such as Asset Tag, Part Number, Serial Number, etc for your own inventory purposes among other reasons.
The SDR will have the proper threshold settings and other parameters. This will allow the system to understand how slow or how fast the fans should run.
You can find more information about these at the following location.
