1360x768 on Sharp LC-19AD22U w/ 945GM Express: what DTD ?

Hi,
guess i'am a newbie but I am trying to get 1360x768 (supported resolution according to the Sharp PC compatibility chart that I got from my LCD User Guide - note: LCD is 16x10).
Connection between my PC and LCD is VGA. I did set up WXGA mode on my LCD.
SadlyI can not get more than1024x768. Powerstrip being of no help, I downloaded the DTDCalculator.
My first question would be: Howcan I get the DTD ?

Thanks,
frederic.

This is the raw EDID (I think):

Tricky. Not finding your setup on the web. Did you cut and paste that from the Information button window, or did you Save to File and then paste those results? The latter is the right way to do it, but sometimes you still don't get an EDID (it's a raw string of 128 hexadecimal numbers).

Yes indeed - This is actually the procedure I am trying to follow. But I am stuck at the following part of that procedure:
QUOTED
a) One of the most accurate (for your particular monitor) would be by grabbing the EDID data from the Intel Graphics Tray Information button (choose "Save to File" and the raw EDID will pop up). Use the instructions from the DTD Wiki I referenced above to find the proper DTDs, paste one into the DTD field of the Reverse Calculation screen and hit the button there.
UNQUOTED.

Thanks for your reply.

I did "Save to File..." and it created automatically a DiagnosticsReport.txt which I then opened and copied-pasted into my previous post.
1/ Any idea what is going wrong ?

2/ By the way, when I go to my "Device Manager" window (see added File, a snapshot of my "Device Manager"), I see 2 Default Monitor and 3 Plug and Play Monitor. Is this normal ?

Your help much appreciated.
Thanks.

Sometimes the EDID doesn't get read properly. You might have better results by changing all instances of "BitBashingSupport" in the registry to "FF".

I'll look around on the web for compatible timings. Is there a reason you're choosing 1360x768 instead of 1440x900, which is your monitor's actual resolution?

Thanks. Actually the 1440x900 resolution is not an option in the drop down menu("Display Settings" of the IGM). The only options offered to me are: 800x600 and 1024x768. Strange enough, as you correctly observed, the 1440x900 is in the Monitor Supported Modes of the Info file.
But yes I would prefer that 1440x900 resolution. Any idea how I can force it ?

By the way, sorry to ask but how can I change the BitBashingSupport to FF ?

Thanks for your patience.

Open the registry by going to a command line and typing

regedit

Left click on My Computer in the left panel, CTRL-F, then type "BitBashingSupport". It will search the registry for this setting. Change it from 00 to FF. Hit F3 and it will find the next instance. Change it, too. Repeat until the registry is done.

Restart the computer.

You're getting the 800x600 and 1024x768 because your laptop is sending a query to your monitor over the VGA cable: "Please tell me about yourself" and your monitor is either not getting the message or sending it back garbled. Either way, the driver assumes your monitor is old enough to not have an EDID and so it offers only the bare minimum of resolutions. Ifthe graphics driverreceived the message back (and BitBashing has been known to help with this), it would have a list of resolutions which would match this message.

The fact that the Diagnostics_Report.txt file didn't have any EDID data in it is symptomatic of this. Sometimes it can be corrected with a new VGA cable, other times a DTDis sufficient.

Thanks Aaron. The Search returned nothing...
Any idea ? I know I am starting to be a pain ;o) but your help is welcome.

Ahhhhhh... suddenly all is clear, and it was even in your first post. You're on an old driver that doesn't support DTDs. You're on 4446 and youwant to be on 4926.

Try http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=2102&DwnldID=16835&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems〈=eng

It's entirely possible, in fact, that the EDID would show up with the newer driver-- I don't know if the Information button on 4446 even supplied the raw EDID as part of the diagnostic report.

YEEEES DOCTOR. YES DOCTOR. You are the man. I hope your boss read your posts. Now I got EDID. Thanks.
2 remarks tough:
1/ the very first thing I did couple of weeks ago was to check that I got the latestdriver version using: http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm
and it returned sth like "your driver is OK, no need to update" ...
2/ For the 4926 update, I had no luck with the automatic update (using .exe). I had to do the manual driver update (using .inf and 'have disk' method). Otherwise the so-called automatic update returned sth like "This driver version does not complyyour manufacturer criteria".

Let me play with theDTD Calculator and I will keep you posted.
Again, thanks.

B9 22 A0 A0 50 84 1A 30 30 20 36 00 30 BE 10 00 00 00

is the DTD Ihave when I used the DTD Calculator ('Interpret EDID'). I then 'Write DTD to Registry', reboot my PC and since life is always full of surprises, the 1440x900 resolution was NOT available in the drop down menu of the IGM for my Monitor ('Display Settings').

My questions:
1/ Should I still change, as per your previous suggestion, all 00 to FF in the BitBashingSupport registries ?
2/ Am still puzzled by my Sharp User Guide which is not indicating 1440x900 as a supported resolution. The highest supported resolution (indicated in the said-guide) is 1360x768 (47.7kHz Hor, 60Hz Vert). Then why doesthe 1440x900 resolution show as a "Monitor Supported Modes" in the DiagnosticReport.txt ?
3/ Any other idea Doctor ?

thanks

***************** UPDATED 5/24 ************************

I changed 00 to FF in all BitBashingSupport registries
andunfortunately I still do not have any additional option than just the 1024 x 768 :o(

Any further help appreciated
