Windows XP
Toshiba Satellite A105
Intel GMA 950 with 945GM/GU
AOC 19MVWk 19'' LCD
I'm not positive that my LCD reports any EDID information and I'm trying to modify my igxp32.inf file like others have done but I can't figure out the DTD hex codes nor find any modeline information. Any help with this would be much appreciated! I noticed archibael seems to be the expert around here and I'm hoping to catch his attention ;)

Get MonInfo. Make sure the AOC monitor is active (any resolution will do), and then run MonInfo. It should return your EDID. If it doesn't for some bizarre-ass reason, since neither you nor I have been able to find a Linux Modeline we'll probably have to go generic. Which I do not relish, but we'll manage.
Let me know your results.

Thank you so much for your reply. I tried MonInfo and was unable to get the EDID. Both monitors are active. All I could get was the EDID from the monitor built in to the laptop. My LCD returned nothing but the following:
Monitor
Hardware information........ n/a
Windows description......... Default Monitor
Display adapter
Adapter description......... Mobile Intel 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family
Adapter device ID........... 0x27A68086

Okay. A couple of possible issues I want to warn you about before you start: your laptop may be specifically excluding 1440x900 as an allowable resolution. This is in the BIOS, but since I don't know specifically which model Satellite A105 you have (the sub-model number determines which BIOS to use), I can't be sure.
We can get around this, but only by cheating (use 1432x892 and you may have some blank pixels on the edges, but the 1440x900 restriction will be gone).
That said, here are some DTDs I've come up with based on some stuff I've found on the web for AOC in general, if not your monitor in particular:
HKR,, DTD_1,%REG_BINARY%, 56,2A,A0,D8,51,84,2E,30,20,98,29,14,00,00,00,00,00,1E,37,01;1440x900@60...from web
HKR,, DTD_2,%REG_BINARY%, 30,2A,A0,D0,51,84,22,30,50,98,36,00,00,00,00,00,00,1E,37,01;1440x900@60...from elsewhere on web
HKR,, DTD_3,%REG_BINARY%, 97,29,A0,D0,51,84,20,30,50,98,13,00,00,00,00,00,00,1C,37,01;1440x900@60....fromweb
HKR,, DTD_4, %REG_BINARY%, 83,2A,A0,D8,51,84,2E,30,20,98,29,14,00,00,00,00,00,1A,37,01;1440x900@60 Generic
HKR,, DTD_5, %REG_BINARY%, 83,2A,98,E0,51,84,2E,30,28,98,29,14,00,00,00,00,00,1A,37,01;1432x900@60 Generic plus Hack to deal with BIOS
The first four might work, or might not, depending on the unknown timings of your monitor. Even if your monitor may like them, Toshiba's BIOS may still forbid them. The final DTD (5) is 1432x900, which should get around any Stupid BIOS Tricks Toshiba is playing on you, but your monitor may still not like the timings. I'd mess with the first hex digit (83), tweaking it up and down a bit to see if your monitor will accept variations on it.
I'll be out of town for about a week, and not near the Net much, but I'll check in when I can.
Good luck!

Thanks so much for taking the time and putting these settings together. I'll try them as soon as I get back into the office tomorrow. One weird thing I forgot to mention is that for that LCD there were no widescreen resolutions available in the display properties. Can't wait to try out these DTD settings in the morning! Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.

I was able to get one of the 1440x900 resolutions displaying. The one with the 61 hertz was the only one I could get working. Thank you so much for your help! Everything looks great now
Hopefully Intel can release new drivers so people with widescreen monitors won't have to go through this hassle

Glad it worked for you!
Supposedly they corrected something in the 15.4.2 drivers ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=2806&DwnldID=13479&strOSs=164&OSFullName=Windows%20Vista*%2032〈=eng)where they were improperly reading 1440x900, or improperly excluding it, or something according to the release notes.

archibael,
I've been trying to get my computer to output widescreen as well and have had no luck. My lcd tv is 1366x768. I also tried the new driver from intel and it only gives me a resolution thats too big for my tv. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hmmm... still doesn't help, and I'm not finding Modelines or a User Manual for your monitor. I'll look around to try and find something, but the EDID would be very helpful...

Yeah, that's the right format, but the info's bogus: I'm reading a 1280x800 resolution there, and since it's when you don't even have the TV plugged into the computerI'm thinking it must be from some other source entirely.
I'll do a little more digging, but your monitor seems pretty obscure in Googlespace.

Well, unfortunately, I couldn't find an exact match to your monitor. I did find several Olevia monitor Modelines which might work, but even within a single brand every monitor tends to be different...
1368x768" 87.403 1368 1456 1592 1800 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync
1360x768" 85.875 1360 1408 1520 1768 768 769 772 810 +hsync +vsync
1366x768" 73.800 1366 1414 1446 1526 768 773 783 793 +hsync +vsync
These translate into DTDs:
24 22 58 B0 51 00 1E 30 58 88 3A 00 00 00 00 00 00 1C; 1368x768
8B 21 50 98 51 00 2A 30 30 70 13 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E ; 1360x768
8C 21 50 98 51 00 2A 30 30 70 13 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E ; above, but rounding error on pixel clock?
D4 1C 56 A0 50 00 19 30 30 20 5A 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E ; 1366x768
Follow the instructions on the Wiki http://isnwiki.jot.com/WikiHome/Articles/111111431using these DTDs and see if any of them work. Also see if any of them don't show up in your list of modes: it's possible that Toshiba is locking one or more of them out of your BIOS, in which case we can tweak them to avoid the lockout. They still might not work with your monitor, but we can at least try them...
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
