Amplifier update 2 crashes Visual Studio, won't uninstall

Hello-
As part of an evaluation I installed Parallel Amplifier and used it successfully. Several weeks later, after the evaluation license had expired, I went to demonstrate it to a coworker and most Amplifier actions would result in Visual Studio crashing. Attempting to uninstall Amplifier would fail as well. I obtained another evaluation license and downloaded update 3. Installing update 3 now fails when trying to remove update 2. However, the license file seems to have been applied and the currently installed update 2 no longer crashes (but still won't uninstall from Control Panel).
Here is the tail of the installation error log:

Well, turns out that it is still true of Windows 7 (x64) that first step in trouble shooting should be to reboot. It seems that I had another installation process that had failed silently and was blocking all others (logging in/out did not clear the install).
Rebooting "suspended" this failed install and allowed Amplifier to be uninstalled.
Thanks,
Edward
