David is correct. X3xxx is not being abandoned. GMA950 support is being ended on XP after the next 14.32 driver release (they've gone about as far as they can with the hardware on that OS), but there are no plans on the roadmap for stopping improvements on the G965 and later.

i thought so, but these drivers sure are coming along really slowly..
anyway i dont mind waiting a few more weeks, just hope they get them working to the best of X3xxx hardware capabilities

Hai guys i used a software called gpu caps viewer and tested the opengl functionalities in xp ,it reports that the 14.31.1 driver supports 56 opengl extension and max dynamic lights =16 ,max vertex shader=0 ,do we need a seperate driver to enable vertex shader for opengl???

in the new patch of AOE 3 the game automatically selects the directx 7 mode when starting and the options such as " very high" for shader quality and shadow quality are not available, when i read the log file it says "chipset = intel 9 series selecting directx 7 mode"
965g is different from other 9 series chipsets then why it is happenning so???

Archibael, I thought the drivers were supposed to be out in couple of days. I heard you saying somewhere(I think from AVS forums) that it takes 1-2 weeks from releasing at internal servers to release publicly. Where are 14.32 and 15.7?? Don't tell me its delayed further. It's one thing to wait for a new driver enabling all features, but its another to wait for a driver that fixes the problem of the current driver not working with the new features. That's really ridiculous.
Intel should stop focusing on useless R&D like making chipsets with higher performance(aka X38, which isn't really faster, sometimes its slower than P35), and put that extra money into integrated graphics development.
After all, they wasted the money developing the useless X38 chipset which is slower than the P35 chipset. Why not spend that wasted money on IGP development??

archibael, the most important qustion:
could one expect somewhat remarkable performance improvements with the new driver?
or the driver stresses rather stability issues and so on?
Thanks.

Absolutely no clue. Sorry. I'm not involved in the driver development, I just have access to release dates.

So Intel, tell me why this page was changed: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/common-misconceptions-of-intel-integrated-graphics
I was very sure I was G35 as having 10 shader processors, but when I revisited the website today, it says it has 8.
Can anyone tell me which one is a typo?? G35 having 10 shaders or G35 having 8 shaders??
Vak-I wouldn't expect too much performance improvements with the XP version of the driver. The driver is relatively stable. The Vista version may get nice benefits-to some configurations. Depending on the system configuration, the feedback of the driver varies widely. I know even the XP driver still has issues to be worked out, and these aren't insignificant issues, just that its much less worse than on Vista.

I am VERY dissapointed with the new 15.7 Vista driver. All of my games are still running at about HALF the fps i got under windows XP. There does not appear to be a TnL fix, LIKE PROMISED. 6 months and we still dont have a simple TnL fix? Here is what 3dmark05 says:
Max Texture Height | 4096px
Max User Clipping Planes | 0
Max Active Hardware Lights | 0
Max Texture Blending Stages | 8
Fixed Function Textures In Single Pass | 8
Pixel Shader Version | 3.0
Max Vertex Blend Matrices | 0
Max Texture Coordinates | 8

I think its time for a class action lawsuit. Many of us reasonable relied on the promise that the x3100 would provide much better graphical performance than the 915/950 chipsets. Intel has had a reasonable amount of time to fix this. In fact, they even provided a fix for XP. Why not Vista? In many cases I am getting HALF the fps I would get uner XP, and even lower FPS than the ancient intel 915 chip. UNNACCEPTABLE.

I know. ;)
Same place I got the information about when the drivers would bereleased. I suspect, but cannot prove, that the Release Notes will show up at the same time the drivers are released to the "Chipset" area rather than the individual motherboard area. I've seen differences in the two areas before (notably during the 14.27 release back in the Late Cretaceous Period).
