Intel Edison Break Board Mechanical Design File

Hi there guys,

I am looking for some type of document that would give me the detailed physical dimensions and features of the Intel Edison Breakout Board (the small one).

So far, I have only found the schematic, and this file:

http://www.intel.com/support/edison/sb/CS-035256.htm

I tried opening the .brd file with Eagle, but it gave me an error.

So, is this the correct file, and should I just try to open it with something else?, Or, there is another file somewhere else?

I thought getting this information was going to be straight forward. I guess I was wrong.

Thanks!

Hopefully, section 6 of this guide should help you wrt to physical dimensions of Edison: http://download.intel.com/support/edison/sb/edisonmodule_hg_331189004.pdf

Regarding opening .brd files, please use free viewer tool from Cadence site:  http://www.cadence.com/products/pcb/pages/Downloads.aspx

Hope it helps.

Thanks Jayesh.

This seems much more complicated than what I originally expected this to be.

I read that document, and on section 6 they describe the edison board, but not the mini break out board, which is the one I am looking for.

About the .brd file, I was looking for a linux aplication, but in the end went ahead with windows and use that Cadence software.

Man, that Cadence software is a nightmare. Just to download it was a pain. Then, 3 different options of installers, then, the exe does not work. There are different versions of the exe, just one works. It also uses VS2005... 10 year old based software!

Finally, I got to open the file. There is a Show Measurement tool that allows me to measure stuff on the drawing, but the interface is... let's say not great. Is there a pdf or an inkscape version of the mechanical drawing?.

For example, where can I get the .dxf file shown in section 2.5 of this document?

http://www.intel.com/support/edison/sb/CS-035252.htm

Anyway, at least I can get the data out of this.

Allegro is the Cadance board design tool which is used for making it out, so Eagle would not be able to open .brd file.

Regarding getting .dxf file, may be Intel folks can help you out, ideally this file should have been embedded in that pdf, but seems that some-how it has been missed.

Feature list regarding breakout board is available @ http://ark.intel.com/products/84573/Intel-Edison-Breakout-Board-Kit

Edison .dxf file can be downloaded from: http://www.intel.com/support/maker/edison.htm#downloads . Check under 'Hardware and Shields' section  and download: Intel® Edison Board - DXF file.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but that DXF file is for the Edison itself, not the Breakout board. I think it is just not published.

If anyone else is interested in this, the Intel Edison mini breakout board is also present in the current Fritzing version. Not sure how exact those measurements are, but it is a great starting point at least.
