Intel® RealSense™ SDK 2014 Setup Wizard ended prematurely

Trying to uninstall this from Windows 8.1 64bit and cannot. Do not have a camera attached.

Chose 'uninstall' from the Windows Control Panel. Got the install menu ('repair' radio button greyed out) and chose 'remove'.

the blue banner launches and the progress list appears below it. Then get this:

--------------------------- error message -------------------------

Intel® RealSense™ SDK 2014 Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error(s).

Windows Installer Failed to configure product:

Error Message {{Error 1}} The specified account already exists.

Error Code 1603

Product Code: {BEECEooC-4691-4430-A28F-E61B8443A242}

Module Name: ism.msi

To install this program at a later time, run Setup Wizard again. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard.

---------------------- end of error message ---------------------------

Bit stuck really - need to remove it, but cannot. Is there a way I can maybe delete the various folders it has created and delete it's registry entries?

Thanks for any advice/guidance.

Chris

Hey, so I'm using Windows 10, and I was able to uninstall easily. Maybe restart and try again?

PFA screenshots for the same.

Thanks Rishabh - appreciate the input.

I am going to migrate this PC to W10 so thought to de-install everything and try to uninstall the SDK again.  Rebooting the PC one final time before trying again to uninstall the SDK did not make any difference- the Real Sense SDK won't uninstall.  So, I'm left with a legacy I cannot escape from :)

You could have went ahead with just Complete Wipe you know :P. Anyhow first time I've heard about such an issue. Seems like 8.1 was meant to be for you.

Thanks Rishabh - 'Complete Wipe' isn't an option if I want to lever age the free upgrade offer - to start from scratch I'd need to buy a retail copy - don't think Intel intend to tax people this way :)

You can using the Free W10 download for non profits. But either ways once you upgrade via reserving W10, then also once the OS is installed. Do reset the PC, always helps and is generally suggested as well.

Thanks Risbah - if only all problems could be sorted by sandblasting :)

There is a fault, created by Intel, that causes this bug.  I do not know if it is present in all versions of everything they do, but it could be.  If it could be solved, then generations of others will benefit. If we just work around it, it remains an obstacle.

So, although it's good that you advise something that will always work, answering my support request completely, it doesn't fix the problem and might make things worse  - that's why I posted here, in case someone in Intel see it and finds the bug and fixes it. I notice they've thought of a better idea for newer versions - separate the hardware code from the rest of the SDK so they're distinct - so let's hope nobody else comes across this bug ever again :)
