L204WT, GMA4500MHD, DVI-D - No video HELP!

I have 1 x LG L194WT, 2 x L204WT's and I can't get DVI to work with any of them... not properly anyway. I want to use the two L204WT's with the DVI output, I've only been using the L194WT for testing to try and help diagnose the problem.

I can get 800x600 video to them, but with 1440x900 and 1680x1050 native resolutions respectively, that's pretty pointless... When I set the video to the native resolution, the monitors are enabled (ie, they come out of standby) but are totally black. They are recognised by the OS just fine.

I'm using a Dell E6500, with PR02X dock, with dual DVI-D outputs... monitors are DVI-D input. I'm using dual link DVI-D cable (all pins bar the analogue ones). Intel number is GMA4500MHD. I'm using the latest video driver (7.15.10.1637) from the Dell website, the driver from Intel website doesn't work and tells me to use the manufacturer driver pack. OS is vista 64.

Here's the dump for the L204WT from Moninfo...

Ok... further development...

I've tried messing with the media accelerator settings... but it's no better.

I am getting the monitor OSD message saying the frequency is out of range. The manual recommends H-> 64.674 KHz and V-> 60.0 Hz. The specification says the range is H-> 28-83kHz, V-> 56-75Hz.

The thing that's weird is that the display doesn't go into standby... so it's obviously getting something from the display driver.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I think I'm going to print of a bunch of stuff and try and figure out if there's something in the registry I can tweak over the next few days.

I WIN!

I've found the solution to my problem... I was using DVI-D Dual link cables. Took the monitors to a computer guy today for some back to back testing and to verify my problem... he tested my monitors with my leads and it totally failed exactly the same as on my computer at home.

Then he pulled out a single link DVI-D cable and PRESTO! Instant video at the correct resolution.

So it seems that while the dual link cable will tell the monitor to expect a picture, the picture goes missing along the way.

Anyway, solved my own problem... bought 3 x DVI-D single link cables and I have all three monitors working perfectly.
