MIC with Skylake Host

Student here starting a research project for the Xeon Phi. I need to upgrade my system before I can outfit it with my school-supplied Phis. I've looked everywhere, talked to Intel and Asus and nobody has been able to answer this: Is the Phi compatible with systems besides a Xeon E5 host and X99 chipset? Every board and system I've found that is qualified to run a Phi uses an X99 and E5.

Can the Phi work with a Skylake CPU, Z170 chipset, or C236 chipset? Has anyone tested it? So far all I've found is the motherboard needs to have above 4G decoding, large enough PSU, and appropriate cooling if using a passive card.

Thanks for any information you can provide.
