Pubudu,
Thanks for replying.
I'm aware that I can't plug a RS Camera into a USB 3.0 port that is connected to a hub. I'm not suggesting that I would do that. The mobo that I'm looking at has a Z97 chipset, which has integrated USB controllers -- presumably 1 for USB 3.0 and 1 for USB 2.0.
I would plug the camera in 1 USB 3.0 connector and a keyboard and mouse in 2 USB 2.0 connectors.
Will this configuration work? (Presumably there will be only 1 device connected to the USB 3.0 controller,)
The board manufacture does not know and suggested that I contact Intel regarding the Z97 chipset.
The mobo does not have an extra slot for installing a USB 3.0 card with a dedicated controller.
My understanding is that the Z97 chipset uses a xHCI controller to route requests to the appropriate USB controller. If it routes USB 2.0 device requests to the USB 2.0 controller and USB 3.0 requests to the USB 3.0 controller, then my configuration compiles with the requirement that a dedicated USB 3.0 controller be used for the RS Camera.
If my configuration will not work, then you seem to be saying that the integrated Intel USB 3.0 controller in the Z97 chipset will not work with the Intel RS Camera. Is this correct? Has anyone tested the RS camera with the Z97 chipset?
Regards,
Jack
