Mnemonic key: No underlined letter in the caption

I have made several QuickWin applications and have preceded one letter with an ampersand in caption of each button to make the letter the mnemonic key. The letter works if pushed together with Alt but I discovered just now that the letter is underlined only at design time and I can not see any underlined letter at run time. Am I doing something wrong?

Perhaps it's just the (annoying) feature of new Windows (2000 & ME) -- letters are not underlined until Alt is pressed? You can switch it off in Control Panel/Display/Effects.
