Procedure after renewal (confusion)

I was told by the (3rd party) reseller that I don't have to do anything -

I just received an E-mail with the renewal license number, after I bought it.

However, it says on the E-mail that i have to use that to re-register.

So, which is it? I am confused.

My renewal takes effect on 1/20/15.

You should not need to do anything.  Your support term is automatically updated, and as long as you are using the serial number for installation, a new license file will be downloaded when you attempt to install any newer product versions.  If you are working on a system with no internet connectivity, you will need to get a new license file from the Intel® Registration Center (registrationcenter.intel.com) in order to install any versions newer than your previous license file's support expiration.
