Hi,
Due to its weight and the ability to measure depth the r200 is perfectly suited to put it on a quadcopter. I just figured out that the magnet seems to interfere with the compass of the quadcopter. When the camera is attached the compass of the quadcopter cannot be calibrated.
So my question is, did anyone try to remove the magnet from the camera is this possible or does it destroy the casing of the camera?

You can pop that magnet off pretty easily with a stiff stickpin or a flat dull blade between the magnet and the case edge. It's just glued in. Here's what it looks like without the magnet:
