R200 system requirements

Hi,

Is there a set of system requirements to meet before using the R200? I am running Windows 10 on a laptop and have managed to use the camera absolutely fine. That is, until I try to use a higher color stream resolution. Anything above 640x480 causes the device to crash and fail in both the realsense explorer and in my own application. I also have a desktop but it is fine there.

Thanks.

If the camera works fine at lower resolutions, it makes me wonder if the laptop's USB 3 port is not providing the camera with sufficient power when you move up to higher resolutions.  A powered USB 3.0 hub (a hub that runs off mains power instead of drawing its electricity from the PC) might fix the problem.  I'm sure others on this forum will have their own theories to contribute *smiles*

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately I do not have one to test with. By loading up the capture viewer I have managed to find out that 1920x1080 works for 0-15 FPS but not 30 FPS. I shall try to force my stream to be a lower frame rate in my application.

This leads me to another problem. I cannot make a stream framerate lower than 30FPS for the colour stream unless I remove the depth stream all together. I also cannot seem to have a lower depth stream than 30FPS either.

Have you caught on any of the specific errors you're getting when it crashes and fails on the tablet?  I'm also having a problem using the R200, where it functions OK on a Windows 8 PC, but fails when running on a Windows 10 tablet.  The "EXEC_ABORTED" thread seems to also indicate that frame rate could also be an issue.

I get the blue screen of death with kernel security error. What I have discovered is that setting frame rates for both depth and colour streams causes this for me. I can only stream HD images at 15FPS and I only get that if I set only the framerate for the RGB stream, not the depth. Unfortunately this results in poor depth values at 15FPS. The exposure is limited to half the length which I find odd, since I expected the opposite effect.

I notice my CPU usage is actually very low so it may well not be that my laptop is too slow. I am trying to work out if the USB 3,0 port is operating at full speed or not as well as trying external power.

Can confirm it is not a power issue.
