SR300 design discrepancies

Hello,

I've ordered and recently received an SR300-type camera. To my surprise, the camera is identical in its exterior design to the previous F200 model, and it's even depicted like this on the box. In contrast, both the Intel website and other resources online show specimens of a completely different design with a different stand and Intel rather than Creative branding. For reference:

  - Intel website: https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/a-comparison-of-intel-realsensetm-front-facing-camera-sr300-and-f200

  - Youtube video: https://youtu.be/x1nhbXTmg7c?t=15m13s

Intel's support confirmed to me that the identical design is correct but has failed to clarify why there is the discrepancy. Specifically, they've confirmed both the identical design and also the identical model number on the sticker on the device.

Is anybody on here in the know? Is the Intel-branded design just a prototype or are there different editions for sale?

Cheers,

Christian

The cameras with the separate USB3 cable were the quality samples just before production. The production cameras Intel is shipping are the ones in the "older" style Creative housings with attached cable.  Either one should show as an SR300 under imaging devices once you plug them in and load the DCM 3.x  (3.1 about to release thru win update)
