I find the ScreenIO library very useful to convert programs previously developed on VMS machines on to Win32 platform. Would it be possible to add a routine to it, which would detect if any button on the keyboard has been pressed. Would it be possible to release the source code of this library?

You could use PEEKCHARQQ for this. We can (and probably will) release the source code, but it's in C.
