Unable to get license when networked through a 10GigE bridge

Hello.

My group has two research scientists who are working on a joint project which will require their desktop computers to run at 10GigE.    Both researchers have new Apple Mac Pros and we are running the latest version of Mavericks.  10GigE is not an option on them and so the project purchased two Atto ThunderBridge boxes which take thunderbolt from the Mac and produce a 10GigE connection to the wall jack.

When I hooked these up, we found that none of our applications that use the FlexLM license server worked anymore.  All of them reported different errors.  The problem appeared to be connected to the fact that the ThunderBridge was not reporting the hostid correctly to remote servers.

I have been working with the Rogue Wave folks and the TotalView debugger we use heavily and they found that the FlexLM folks found a similar issue and released FlexLM 11.12.x just recently (it may still be beta).  After installing this update, TotalView is now working when the ThunderBridge is replacing the old GB network.  Note that I do not run any lmgrd's on these computers - they go to other license servers for their licenses.  But simply installing the new 11.12.x tools (lmhostid, etc) was the fix.

I found that our Intel Fortran license was not working when running through the ThunderBridge box as well.  After getting TotalView to work, I got into my /opt/intel directory to look for an lmhostid or something similar but found nothing in there.  Again, these machines do not run lmgrd but go to a different server for licenses.

When I invoke the Intel Fortran compiler (ifort), I get a simple Segmentation fault.  That’s it.  Only when running through the Atto box.

I am hoping this forum can help us resolve the issue or point me to who can.  We have Intel Parallel Studio XE Fortran Compiler for OSX (V15.0, 8/27/14).

Thank you!

Hi Kelley,

I'm sending you an email, in order to collect more information, including the license file you were using.

Thanks.
