downloading my Fortran compiler after a disk crash

On the weekend, the hard disk on my computer crashed and I had to replace it. As a result, I need to download my Fortran compiler on the new hard disk. Can anyone help me with this?

Daniel,

Please login to the Intel® Registration Center https://registrationcenter.intel.com. Click on the "Show Expired Registrations" to see all active and expired licenses. Click on the download link of the Intel® Fortran Composer XE product in the 2nd column.

If the product has already expired (support-wise) you need to obtain your license file since remote activation services using the serial number is not supported for expired products.

To obtain your license file, go back to the Intel Registration Center home page, click on the Fortran Composer XE product on the left column. On the next page, the license subscription history page, click the 'Manage' button associated with your Fortran Composer XE serial number and then click on the 'Resend license file to my email' button. If your license has expired already long time ago (>2 years) you will not be able to manage your license any longer. In this case give me note.

I hope this helps.

Regards, Hubert

Hubert,

Thanks for your help. I looked up the history of my license, and it expired on Feb 24, 2011, so I won't be able to manage this myself. Can you help?

Thanks,

Daniel Baker

Daniel,

I sent you the license file via email. Are you able to download the Compiler from the Registration Center?

It is telling me that

"Support for your license has expired...." It wants to download version 2013SP1 and wants me to pay to update my license since 2011. Can I just download the version of the compiler I originally purchased without updating? If so, how?

Daniel,

Yes, of course. You can download older compiler versions with a release date that fits your support subscription period. However, since we cannot keep all old compiler releases on the Registration Center and so it may happen that you are no longer able to download the version you had support for.

Can you access the download area on the Intel Registration Center at all or does the error due to expired license appear before you can access it? Normally, you should be able to access the page and choose an older version from the Version: drop-down box. According to your support subscription you should be able to download the latest 11.0 compiler. Can you recall which compiler version you were running before the crash?

Hubert,

I succeeded in downloading version 11.0 and the license you sent me to the directory \MyDocuments. But it won't let me install, presumably because I haven't told it where to find the license and it hasn't asked. How do I proceed from here?

Thanks,

Daniel Baker

You should be able to proceed after copying the license to the intel licenses directory you are using, e.g.

(linux) /opt/intel/licenses

(windows) program files (x86)\common files\intel\licenses\

Thank you. I have downloaded the license to the correct location.

My new problem is that I now realize I downloaded version 11.0 when I really had version 11.1. I still have the directory structure for it, but none of the executables in the directory. Here is the data structure: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Compiler\11.1\067\bin

Inside bin I have two folders: ia32 and intel64. Both folders contain executables. I have a 64 bit machine, but I don't know if I was running the 32 bit version of the compiler or the 64 bit.

Here are my questions: (1) Can I still download version 11.1? If so, how?

                                   (2) Can you tell me which version I had? 32 bit or 64 bit? Or how can I tell myself?

Thanks,

Daniel Baker

Daniel,

Yes, 11.1.067 is no longer available from the downloads. I'll provide you with version 11.1.067, but it will take a few days. I'll come back to you with download information at the end of next week.

Unless you have extremely specific requirements, a later version of 11.1 should work as well.

What I already downloaded was version 11.0. Again, here are my two questions:

(1) How do I go about downloading version 11.1? Does the fact that I already downloaded version 11.0 prohibit me from doing this, because I don't seem to be able to? I have not installed version 11.0.

(2) I have a 64 bit machine, but I don't know whether I was using a 64 bit compiler or a 32 bit compiler. Does it matter? Can I download either one?

Thanks for the help.

The only thing which should stop you from accessing a later 11.1 version would be if your license expired prior to release of the newer one.

Instructions are here:

http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/older-version-product ;

Any version which is visible on the pull-down menu would work with the license you registered to get access to the site.

You could download and install either 32- or 64-bit version, or both.  You need the X64 OS as well as 64-bit hardware to use a .exe made with the Intel64 version.

Tim,

If you page back through this correspondence, you'll see that my license expired in 2011, so on 3/21 Hubert sent me a new license. I think in addition, he enabled me to download, because I succeeded in downloading version 11.0, but then could not download anything else. I haven't installed version 11.0, because I since realized that I had version 11.1. But I think someone will have to give me permission again to download. I still have the license that Hubert sent me, so I don't know if I will need a new license or not.

Daniel,

I extended your license so that you will be able to download the latest 11.1.072 version from the Intel® Registration Center. This is less effort than providing 11.1.067 for you. I hope you will be ok with this. I sent you the updated license file (support expiration 6/30/2011) separately via email.

Hubert.
