fortran composer xe licence and premier support

I have bought, registered and downloaded fortran xe composer for mac osx but when I try to install it, either using the serial number or the licence file that intel sent me, I get the error message that 'installation cannot proceed' as I do not have 'enough licences to install all the components of this package'. I contacted the supplier, who contacted intel. intel replied and confirmed that the product is registered for support, and that I should therefore submit an issue to intel premier support, following the provided link. I followed the link to a page with a lot of FAQs and the user guide, but nothing that helped me. The page also contained a link to contact premier support. When I tried to do this, I receive the message that I am not authorized to access the page. I re-registered for premier support via the intel site and received an email telling me to wait 1 hour while my support account was activated and then to click the link in the email. After 1, 2, 5 and 19 hours, I clicked this link and was taken each time to a page telling me there was a delay setting up my support account and I should try the link again in 1 hour. I have wasted a lot of time on this and would be grateful if anyone could provide me with a quick route to contacting intel for help (I spent some time looking for a phone number or email on the website and drew a blank).

Hi Shona,

Two separate problems here.  First, your license.  I'm resending your license file to you, please try with this one.  I also see that you have an evaluation license.  Please remove the evaluation license file from the license folder.  Normally, it shouldn't cause a problem, but just in case.  It should be located in /opt/intel/licenses.  You can also put the license file from the email directly into this folder.

The second problem.  I'll need to investigate your account to see if there is something preventing the registration from enabling access to Intel® Premier Support.  It should have already enabled it.

Sincerely,

Thanks, I've tried installing with the new licence file and have the same issue. I have tried with the licence file saved to a directory in my homespace, saved to its own root directory /intellicence and saved to opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.6.038/Activation/licenses/. I did not have a directory called /opt/intel/licences so I created one and tried the installation with the licence file saved there instead. All of these resulted in the same issue.

I don't know where the evaluation licence is - there are licence files in some of the subdirectories in /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.6.038/Activation/licenses/ - should I delete these? The subdirectories are: BigInteger, ares, axis, expat, openssl. There is a shell script to uninstall the composer in /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.6.038/ - this is called uninstall_fcompxe.sh - should I run this and then start again?

On Mac, licenses are in /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses

go to that directory.  If there are .lic files in there, create a subdir named 'archive' and move the old licenses in there.  Then move your valid license into /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses

During installation, the Activation step, the installer lets you choose license file, serial number, or remote activation.  It SHOULD find your license file and say 'Use existing activation'.  Go ahead and let it do that.

Still the same?

We've had some issues with Evaluation licenses screwing up our installer.  Did you say you had an evaluation on this system, and if so, what package was on there before?

Thanks, there was a license file in /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses (I assume an old one as it didn't have the new serial number in the filename), and a copy of the new licence file was also there (I assume it was automatically copied there during one of my failed installs as I didn't manually copy it to here). I moved both files into a subdirectory in the same place called archive and moved the new license file to /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses/ and tried the install again. I still have the same issue, whether I try activating using the serial number or the licence file. I do not get a dialogue asking me whether I want to 'use existing activation'. Since I have a backup of everything (including /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses), I then deleted the new archive directory and tried again, with the same result.

About two and a half years ago I downloaded a trial of the fortran compiler, so presumably this installed an evaluation licence but I don't know what the package was called - ifort was the only thing I used. I also tried to install another evaluation of the fortran compiler before I bought it this time, but of course I couldn't activate it since I had already had a trial evaluation - maybe this caused some of the problem?

Have you tried re-downloading the installer?  It is possible the download is corrupted.  Which installer file are you using?

Thanks, yes I downloaded the installer 3 times yesterday and each time I had the same issue when it came to the install. I'm using the file m_fcompxe_2015.0.077.dmg as the installer (the 'full offline installer option). I also selected to 'Use download manager' each time I downloaded the product.

We're investigating a possible installer issue - we're in contact with our developers and hope to have some help for this soon.

Hi,

I'm just trying to upgrade to 2015 and seeing the same issue using m_fcompxe_2015.1.108.dmg.  Was there any resolution to the installer issue.

Thanks

Chris
