intel xdk 3900 cant upload icons and splasg screens

When trying to add icons and splash images for any operating systems in XDK

When selecting icons or splash screens from the "package-assets" folder (directly in the folder or nested within the folder)

I get an error saying

"The Intel XDK was unable to load that file"

I have looed at image permissions, I am working on mac OSX

This is a known issue that will be addressed in an upcoming hotfix. In the meantime, please see the "known issues" section of the 3900 release notes for a workaround.
