using multiple SR300 cameras

Hi

I'm planning to use to SR300 cameras at the same time in order to scan an object from 2 views.
Since the infrared projector of the cameras interfere I have to switch a camera (ore only the infrared projector) off, while acquiring an image with the other camera.

Does anyone know what is the best method to do this. What are the required time/delay for shutting the camera on/off to acquire the images.

Best method would be to use R200 instead as they are stereo cameras and do not interfere with each other.

Otherwise, just turn the emitter off from one SR300 when you are using the other SR300. You can do this by setting the emitter power to the minimum value. You would have to deal with the synchronization between the cameras though.

How does the R200 acquire the 3D information, only using two cameras, ore does the R200 use a projected pattern as the SR300 ? If so, they will interfere if the projected patterns are overlapping. How is the accuracy and resolution of the R200 compared to the SR300.

We would like to scan objects of approx. 30x30x30cm with a resolution around 0.5-1mm. Acquisition should be fast in 100-250ms with robust 3D scanning. We are planning to use 2-3 cameras, to capture the object.

R200 is a stereo camera.

It uses an IR emitter just to lit up the scene when it's dark, and to provide texture on uniformly coloured objects.

If you put another IR light source, R200 would still work as expected since it's a stereo camera. It's not expecting a pattern on the scene. It just compares the disparity of each feature. As long as the camera can identify unique features on each of its IR cameras, then it would in theory be able to get depth information from it.
