"SSD" caching (accelerate HDD) with m.2 pcie NVME?

Does anyone know for sure if SSD caching on Skylake will work with the cache residing on a pcie nvme? I've only used it on regular SSD.

The answer is no - and, in fact, you can no longer do it with a SATA SSD either. With the advent and availability of Optane memory (the 16GB and 32GB modules are specifically used for HDD caching), support for Optane has completely replaced the support for Intel SRT - which is too bad, because I find Optane to be buggy and unstable (whereas SRT was rock solid)...😣

Sorry (wait, why am I apologizing?),

I'm specifically asking about Skylake hardware and the version of RST it uses (which doesn't have support for Optane anyway).

In Skylake, you can use RAID0/1 across two NVMe drives but, to use SRT, you can only use SATA-based drives (i.e. SATA-based SSD and SATA-based HDD).

Sorry,
