Hi all,
I have Lenovo T500 (Windows XP)with Intel WiFi 5300 and D-Link router DIR-655 (wireless-N). The connection works fine, however, I do not understand the transmission rates. Usually both network adapter and router reported 130 Mbps. Hoewever, few months ago, with 13.4 driver version, both suddenly started to report 300 Mbps (I don't know why - it just happened). Until today when I upgraded the driver to 14.3 version and I have 130 Mbps again.
D-Link adapters report always 300 Mbps when working with this router.
I can't get more than 130 Mbps with Dell laptop with centrino 1300 either.
I have read several similar posts and checked the settings, they seem OK. What can I do wrong?
Best regards,
BaZie

I suggest you to take a look at the following links, that show some recommendations in regards the wifi performance:
How do I improve my 802.11n wireless performance?
http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/4965agn/sb/CS-028449.htm?wapkw=1030+5ghz http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/4965agn/sb/CS-028449.htm?wapkw=1030+5ghz
Why am I not able to connect at 300Mbps with my 802.11n device?

You can try also to update the firmware of your router and see if that help and the latest drivers at the intel wifi adapters as well.
I hope this recommendations help you.

Thanks for the answer.
I checked the settings and with the same settings 13.04 driver version gets 300 Mbps, while 14.03 can't reach over 130 Mbps. I have:
802.11n Channel Width (band 2.4/band 5.8) - auto (not limited to 20 MHz)
802.11n Mode - default (on)
Ad Hoc QoS Mode - default (WMM on)
Fat Channel Intolerant - default (off)
Mixed Mode Protection - default (CTS on)
other settings (mobility agressivness, adhoc channel, power management) are default but they don't seem to have any meaning for transmission rate.
Edit:
But after I updated firmware in the router it seems I can get 300 Mbps with new driver. So thanks again, my problem seems solved.
