Win7 Pro x64 identifies it properly as Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 but 'properties' show no AC details or functionality. I've tried HT and VHT both - no AC connection.
NETSH also does not show "AC" band...

It's more likely that the signal to noise ratio is lower. To obtain the higher 702 to 866.7 Mbps speed, get a line of sight range within the router and 7260. Then you should get at least more than 50 MB/s network transfer rate based on my experience. My speed also drops to 585 Mbps or lower if I'm two walls between the router but it can still transfer all of my 100 Mbps internet without issues. I also get about 35-40 MB/s network transfer speed at those scenarios.

Just got mine working as well. It started to show 802.11ac after updating my driver to 17.13.11.5 (shows as 17.14.0 in the intel website) onto my Windows 8.1 64-bit machine. That driver was released on 26/01/2015, its pretty new, and am glad my laptop recognises it now.
