Can 2 Intel ax200 wi-fi 6 wireless adapters connect directly to each other using 160 mhz channels?

One adapter is in a Windows 10 laptop. The second is in an Nvidia Jetson Nano that runs an embedded Ubuntu 18.04 OS. Both adapters are running fine in their respective machines. There is no router to provide a 160mhz channel width environment.

What settings are necessary to achieve 160mhz channel performance?

Thanks in Advance

Hello KSmith,

Thank you for posting on this Intel Community.

Channel Width for 5GHz is determined by an access point or router. The Access Point (AP) or Wi-Fi router have to support the 5 GHz frequency band, and be configured for 11ac mode. To achieve this configuration, the Channel Width for 5GHz value has to be set to Auto.

To modify these settings, go to Advanced Intel® Wireless Adapter Settings. Device Manager > Network Adapters > [your Intel® Wireless Adapter] > Properties > Advanced tab. Choose Channel Width.

Having said that, we would like to have more information to better assist you.

Are you trying to use one of the devices as a mobile hotspot or to establish a peer-to-peer connection?

Hello KSmith,

We would like to update this thread.

As we mentioned on a previous post, to configure 160 MHz channel width while using Intel® Wireless Adapters, it is required to have an AP/router perform this task.

Now, since you are using two systems with different operating systems (Windows* and UBUNTU*), we cannot confirm whether this configuration is going to work. In this scenario, our recommendation is that you can submit your question through the following channels:

1. Please email linuxwifi@intel.com.

2. To report a bug or issue, follow the guidance on the bugs and support page.

Hello KSmith,

Thank you for your response.

We would like to update this thread to address the following issues:

1. Intel Proset for Linux?

Linux drivers are available through the regular channels, distributions, or the Linux* kernel archives. For more information, please refer to the table found on the following support article: Linux* Support for Intel® Wireless Adapters.  Here you can also find additional information about Linux* drivers for your Linux* distribution.

2. Can 2 Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 communicate peer to peer at all, with no router involved, using 160 mhz channels under any circumstances?

To answer this question and provide accurate information, we will do further research. As soon as we have an update, we will post it on this thread.

Regards,

Hello KSmith,

We would like to post an update on your second question: Can 2 Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 communicate peer to peer at all, with no router involved, using 160 mhz channels under any circumstances?

First, we would like to highlight that a connection between two devices under any circumstances may include a variety of scenarios that we cannot control and imagine.

The feature you are referring to is no longer supported in Windows* 10. Please refer to the following support article for more information: Why Hosted and Ad-Hoc Networks Are Not Working on Windows® 10.

What you can do to create a peer-to-peer or similar connection is use the features available in Windows* 10.

1. Windows 10 Mobile hotspot.

2. Wi-Fi Direct
