Code 10 - AC 9560

Hi, my lenovo 100e 2nd gen recently lost the ability to see wireless networks, a code 10 error on the ac 9560 160mhz adapter. When I uninstall this file and restart the laptop I will regain the ability to connect to networks for a few minutes, before it then cuts my connection and flags a code 10 again. Any help would be really appreciated

Hi Doug27,

Thank you for posting and for the clear description of what you are experiencing. I can see how disruptive this must be, especially when the connection only holds for a few minutes before dropping again, and I am happy to help work through this with you.

Before we proceed with the troubleshooting steps, I have a few questions to help me better understand the issue:

  • What is the exact version of Windows you are currently running? For example, Windows 10 or Windows 11 and the specific build number.
  • Did this issue start after a specific Windows update, driver update, or any other system change?
  • Can you confirm the exact model of your Lenovo 100e 2nd Gen? For example, is it Type 81M8 or Type 82GJ? You can find this on the sticker on the bottom of your laptop.
  • What is the current driver version installed for the Intel Wireless-AC 9560? You can find this in Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel Wireless-AC 9560 > Properties > Driver tab.
  • Did the issue start suddenly or gradually over time?
  • Are there any other devices in Device Manager showing errors aside from the Intel Wireless-AC 9560?

Please share the above information and I will be happy to guide you through the next steps.

Hi Doug27,

Thank you for your response! Please kindly follow the recommendations below to help resolve the error code you are experiencing in Device Manager.

Before trying any of the following troubleshooting steps, Intel strongly recommends updating your Intel Wireless or Bluetooth drivers to the latest version. Check with your OEM for the latest drivers available for your system or visit the Download Center if you are using an Intel Generic Driver.

These errors in Device Manager for Bluetooth or Wireless (Wi-Fi) devices can be caused by many different issues. Usually, a Code 10/43 error is a temporary error generated when Device Manager cannot start the hardware device. This most commonly occurs after running a Windows Update that includes Wi-Fi or Bluetooth updates.

An Error Code 10, 22, 28, 31, 43, or 45 in Device Manager can occur when:

  • Bluetooth cannot be enabled
  • There is a Yellow bang (! exclamation point) next to the Bluetooth or Wireless (Wi-Fi) device in Device Manager
  • The properties of the Bluetooth or Wireless device shows status: "This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE"

Recommended Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Update your Intel Wireless or Bluetooth drivers to the latest version. Intel strongly recommends contacting Microsoft and following their recommendations before proceeding, which may include a clean installation of the Operating System.
  2. Perform a Cold Reboot – Fully shut down the device and remove all sources of power, including batteries if applicable, then repower the system. This has been reported by several customers as an effective first step.
  3. Make sure the wireless function is activated. Refer to Connect to a Wi-Fi Network in Windows for guidance.
  4. Update your system BIOS to the latest version or reset BIOS to defaults:
  • For motherboards, refer to the motherboard manufacturer
  • For laptops, All-In-Ones, or notebooks, refer to your OEM (Lenovo)
  1. Perform a Clean Installation of Wireless Drivers:
  • Identify which Wi-Fi adapter and Bluetooth device your system is running
  • Follow the clean installation process as outlined here: Clean Installation of Wireless Drivers (this procedure also applies to Bluetooth drivers)
  • Important: Download the drivers before uninstalling if you are following the clean installation process
  • To get the latest generic drivers from Intel, you can automatically update your drivers using the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant
  1. Install all available Windows Updates
  2. Reboot the PC after completing the driver reinstallation
  3. Restore the system from a restore point – If the wireless network problem occurred recently and a restore point exists, try restoring the computer to a point before the problem began
  4. Reset your PC – If the problem persists after all troubleshooting steps have been completed, please back up your personal files and reset the PC back to its original configuration. Refer to Recovery Options in Windows for more information.
  5. Check and enable the Bluetooth component from the BIOS setup (Basic Input/Output System)

Notes:

  • Intel recommends testing using your OEM drivers first. If the error persists after reinstalling these drivers, then try the Intel generic drivers for Bluetooth or Wireless adapters.
  • When you uninstall the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth device, it may appear as an unknown device in Device Manager, which is expected. The device will be identified again after you reinstall the driver.

For complete recommendations and additional guidance, please refer to the Intel Support Knowledge Base article: Error Codes 10, 22, 28, 31, 43, or 45 in Device Manager for Bluetooth® or Wireless (Wi-Fi) Devices

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to reply to this email and we will be more than happy to help!

Hi Jobert,
Thanks for your help again.

I have tried the drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling the 9560 driver and had the exact same problem. I have also additionally tried resetting my PC while keeping my files and as with all the solutions the same happens, where the Internet worked for about 5 minutes and then cut the ability to see networks. I have also done cold reboots.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you

Thank you for your patience and for the details you have shared with us so far.

  1. You mentioned that you have tried different wireless drivers, but could you please confirm whether you have specifically tried the latest wireless driver version 24.60.0? If not, I would recommend giving that a try as well.
  2. Have you tried loading your BIOS to default settings? Sometimes incorrect BIOS configurations can affect wireless adapter functionality, and resetting to defaults can help rule this out.
  3. Could you please let us know when exactly the issue first started occurring?
  4. Have you already tried contacting Lenovo regarding this issue?

Please try installing Wi-Fi driver version 22.10.0.7, which is compatible with Windows 10, and perform a clean installation by following these steps:

    1. Uninstall the current wireless driver from Device Manager
    2. Restart your system
    3. Install Wi-Fi driver version 22.10.0.7
    4. Restart your system again and check if the issue persists

Also, could you please check your email as I will need some additional information regarding this case? That will help me move things forward as smoothly as possible.

Once we have the above information and you have completed the driver installation steps, we will be in a much better position to determine the next course of action for your case.

Thank you for your response.

Please provide the following information below:

  • Have you specifically tried Intel Wi-Fi driver version 24.60.0? You mentioned trying different drivers, but I want to make sure this particular version has been tested, as it is the latest available for your adapter.
  • Have you tried loading your BIOS to default settings? Incorrect BIOS configurations can sometimes affect wireless adapter behavior, and resetting to defaults can help rule this out. You can do this by restarting your laptop, entering the BIOS setup , and selecting the option to load default or optimized settings.
  • Could you also let me know approximately when the issue first started? Even a rough timeframe would be helpful.
  • Have you already reached out to Lenovo regarding this issue?

If you have some questions, let us know.

Hi Jobert,
The last session I can confirm worked fine was on the 22nd July.
I have tried reinstalling that specific driver but I get an error that another installation is in progress and in my windows updates I see it is trying to download 2025-11 cumulative update for windows 10 version 22h2 for x64 based systems (kb5071959) and 2023-10 update for windows 10 version 22h2 for x64 based systems (kb4023057) these seem stuck as I can't get Internet, which is the issue I'm facing. The updates I've tried have involved downloading on other devices and transferring onto the laptop.
I don't believe I have reset the BIOS specifically, though have tried restoring the laptop to defaults.
I have not spoken to Lenovo yet

Thank you as ever

I have now also reset the BIOS, and like when I reset the driver to default the WiFi has come back for 7 minutes and then cut and disappeared again

Hi Doug27,

Upon reviewing the information, I noticed that the system is currently running Windows Build 19045.6466. Based on the details available, this build is not the most recent Windows release available.

As a next troubleshooting step, I kindly recommend updating Windows to the latest available build through Windows Update and then verifying whether the issue continues to occur after the update has been completed.

Keeping the operating system fully updated ensures that the latest bug fixes, security updates, and compatibility improvements are installed, which may help resolve the issue you are experiencing.

Once the update is complete, please let us know the outcome and whether the issue still persists. If possible, kindly share an updated SSU report as well so we can continue our investigation with the latest system information.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance. I look forward to your update.

Best regards,

Thank you for your update and for taking the time to perform the BIOS reset. I understand that despite attempting this step, the issue still persists.

After reviewing the case, we have thoroughly followed and exhausted all the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article. (Based on: Error Codes 10, 22, 28, 31, 43, or 45 in Device Manager – Article ID: 000031150 | Error Codes 10, 22, 28, 31, 43, 45 or 48 in Device Manager for Intel...)

Since the issue remains unresolved after completing all available troubleshooting and validation procedures on our end, the next recommended step would be to contact your system manufacturer, Lenovo, for further assistance.

As the OEM, Lenovo can provide additional platform-specific diagnostics and support that may help identify the root cause of the issue.

You may contact Lenovo Support using the following link:

Therefore, I will now close this inquiry. If you need further assistance, please submit a new question, as this thread will no longer be monitored.
