When downloading using bittorrent for more than few seconds at a speed of around 80MiB/s audio stutters happens and several massive DPC latency spike as observed by LatencyMon.
-DPC and interrupt to process latency spikes only happens with inbound BitTorrent traffic around 750mbps.
-NEVER happens when stressing with iperf3 or speedtest.net with 800mbps traffic, though using 80 parallel iperf3 connections slightly increases the DPC latency but no significant spikes like with BitTorrent traffic.
-The spikes can be as small as 4ms or as big as 28ms.
-Latencymon attributes the spikes to ndis.sys and tcpip.sys.
Steps to reproduce
- On high speed internet on my PC (Windows 11 22H2, Intel AX210 driver 22.250.1.2)
- Download something that can get you >80MiB/S using bittorrent.
- Observe DPC/ISR latency with latencymon
- [optional] Play any audio or pure tone to observe potential audio stutters.
